About me

Are you grappling with difficult emotions or struggling with anxiety, depression or stress? Do you want to break free from the negative and critical thoughts you have about yourself, which hold you back from reaching what you truly desire? Could you be repeating patterns such as people pleasing, leaving you feeling powerless?  Or are traumatic memories and feelings haunting you? These can be very tricky and painful emotions to navigate alone.

My niche areas are:

Anxiety and Depression

Trauma/PTSD

Low Self Esteem

Please visit my website for more information on how I work with these issues.

We can get stuck and blocked in our patterns but I believe healing is possible and with the right therapist for you, you can flourish!

We will look at what is troubling you in the present moment, whilst revisiting your past, gaining insight to how your previous life experiences could be impacting your present day struggles. My aim is you will learn how to regulate your emotions and cope better with your feelings, as well as rewriting some of the unhelpful and limiting beliefs you hold about yourself.

I have experienced the transformative healing benefits of therapy and I love that I am able to support and help others in the same way.

About me and how I work

I am a down to earth, professional counsellor, believing in a relaxed and warm approach to therapy. I also believe in the healing power of humour which can be a surprising component your therapy. I use psychoeducation, empowering you with knowledge and understanding, making sense to the sometimes scary and confusing feelings you are experiencing.

I strive to create a strong therapeutic relationship where your healing work can take place. This means I am empathic, unconditionally supportive and authentic during our sessions. I come from a place of enquiry and compassion and never judgement.

My approach

My work is integrative, meaning I draw on a variety of techniques and tools to assist you, tailoring my approach to your own individual needs. What I love about integrative therapy is the work we do together will be completely unique to you, there is no one size fits all.

My main areas of expertise are psychodynamic and person centred therapies. Person centred approach works with the here and now and is rooted in the belief that everybody can reach their fullest potential with the right therapeutic relationship.

Psychodynamic therapy works with the unconscious mind, which out of our awareness is running the show. Revisiting your past and childhood experiences can bring deep insight to the root cause of our issues. From understanding our past, we can liberate the present.

I am a Trauma Informed Counsellor which means I understand the complex nature of trauma on a persons mental health and wellbeing. I work with my clients through the lense of 'what has happened to you?' as opposed to 'what is wrong with you'. I prioritise safety and stabilisation as well as looking at new coping skills and ways to increase your self care.

Anybody can benefit from counselling no matter how big or small you feel your reason is.

Please do reach out as I understand looking for a therapist can be daunting. We can discuss how therapy could help you to achieve your desired outcome and find out if I am the right fit for you.

Warmly

Hayley

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
