Hannah Guy Counsellor MBACP (Reg)
Are you feeling an increased level of anxiety or depression? Experienced a recent bereavement or loss? Maybe you'd like to explore a recurring relationship pattern? Or have an early experience or trauma that has affected you as an adult?
Whatever stage of your life you're currently negotiating, I offer an authentic space where we can talk and explore what it is to be you. Our work will be safe, confidential and accepting of whatever is troubling you. whether that be a recent loss, relationship patterns, stress, anxiety, depression or unresolved past traumas.
My work is person-centred and focuses on the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Acknowledging that every client is unique, I enjoy working creatively and integrate different modalities including Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and Psychodynamic theory.
Although I work with a wide variety of clients with different presenting issues, I have a particular interest in working with trauma and perinatal mental health. I may invite clients to use mindfulness, visualisation or creative work with art materials or objects, where appropriate.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling (PGDip) from UWE Bristol and a Certificate in Counselling from Birkbeck University. I have worked in a variety of settings with young people and adults in Bristol and South Glos and currently volunteer at Mind - where I work alongside my private practice. Research interests include Trauma theory and Neuropsychology as well as Perinatal mental health.
In my pre-counselling life I have completed a degree in English Literature and Film Studies (BA Hons) and worked in the charity sector helping to raise thousands of pounds for charities nationwide. I have held contracts in financial services roles and also worked with young homeless people in North London and as a support worker to young mums.
