About me
We often go about our lives suppressing questions we have about ourselves. Your inner voice may be telling you something, but it’s hard to know how to make sense of it. Sometimes though, these questions become too persistent to ignore – especially during times of transition, such as new parenthood, a medical diagnosis, bereavement, menopause, retirement or questioning your sexuality. Important milestones or unexpected hurdles can make you reassess your life. You may wish to make sense of childhood and how its challenges still affect you. You may need to explore a new understanding of yourself as neuro-divergent. You may be processing questions about gender or sexuality. These thoughts can feel scary to voice to family and friends. I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore these feelings.
I am a former lawyer and qualified as an integrative humanistic counsellor in 2015. I am registered with the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics. I work neuro-affirmatively and creatively and am open to hearing and accommodating any needs you may have to make counselling accessible for you.
Having left the lawyer’s world of rules and order for the nuance and intuition of counselling, I know first-hand the courage it takes to let go of assumptions about yourself – both yours and other people’s. I understand the distressing and liberating feelings associated with taking a fresh look at who we want to be.
I can support you to explore all the factors that have shaped the person you currently are. How do you talk to yourself? Maybe you tell yourself to ‘stop making a fuss?’ Are you perpetuating unhelpful or critical messages? Is the person others see the same as who you feel you are? Together, we can have a good look around before we start to work out how to help you form a kinder view of yourself and whether there are changes you are ready to embrace.
I work with many clients who identify as neuro-divergent (autistic, ADHD and AUDHD), including supporting people to explore a new diagnosis or self-identification. I have worked with homeless and insecurely housed adults and with detainees, offering support through the asylum process. I also have extensive experience of working with people grappling with anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, depression and LGBTQ+ issues, or dealing with the impacts of trauma.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
