About me

Hi, I’m Gemma, and I offer a safe, down-to-earth space for you to explore whatever’s on your mind.

I’ve often been described as approachable, genuine, and even casual in my way of being — which simply means you’ll meet the real me, not a blank face. I know how daunting it can feel to reach out, especially if you’re unsure what counselling will be like. My goal is to help you feel at ease, so we can work together at your pace and on your terms.
How I work - I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from different therapy models and tailor my approach to your unique needs working between models such as CBT and ACT. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, low self-worth, relationship struggles or just feeling overwhelmed or depressed I’ll offer support that fits you — not a one-size-fits-all method.
Therapy with me is collaborative and honest. I’ll sit alongside you, not above you, helping you make sense of what you’re going through and find ways to cope, change, or heal. I’ll also offer practical tools and insights you can take into everyday life.

What I can help with -
Over the years, I’ve worked with many different clients and concerns — from specific life events to more general feelings of “not being okay.” Common themes include:
Anxiety or constant overthinking

Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
Depression or emotional numbness
Relationship difficulties including couples and family.
Work-related stress
Feeling stuck or lost
Anger, overwhelm, and burnout aswell as working with ADHD.

If something’s impacting your day-to-day life, even if you’re not sure what to call it, we can explore it together.

What to expect from your first session -

I offer a free initial session* so you can get a feel for how I work and whether it feels like the right fit. You can use that time to ask questions, talk about what’s brought you to therapy, or simply get a sense of the space.

There’s no pressure — just a warm, open space to explore whether this feels right for you.

Why choose me?

Flexible, person-centred approach

Non-judgemental and down-to-earth style

Regular reviews to make sure you’re getting what you need
Fully insured and working under the BACP ethical framework
Genuine commitment to helping you feel heard and supported.

Location & Practical Info -
I offer counselling from a private, confidential room within a well-established practice. I work in line with the BACP code of ethics and hold full professional insurance.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
