About me

Seeking counselling can be a big step and no matter what has bought you here today it is the first step towards the changes you wish to make. Facing difficult feelings and experiences can feel overwhelming and hard to understand on your own, and maybe hard to share with the people close to you.

I offer an open, non-judgemental and confidential space to explore what is going on for you.

At Your Way Counselling, I allow you to choose the way we work together, offering walk and talk counselling, online, or a mixture of both. I feel that being able to make the choice in how we work together, can help to take away some of worries about starting something new and daunting.

I am an integrative counsellor and work with a Person Centred and Psychodynamic approach, meaning we may work with what is happening now, but explore experiences from your past too. I may use NLP coaching techniques in my work, and like to use creative tools to help make sense of things that we are experiencing.

What is Walk and Talk counselling

Walk and talk counselling is something I grew to love during the pandemic. In a walk and talk session, we will walk side by side outdoors, developing a sense of partnership in our relationship. It allows us to process our thoughts in a different approach as we move our bodies and change our environment.

On average, studies have found that we spend up to 90% of our time indoors, and the opportunity to get outdoors and take our experiences into nature, looking out to the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, can help us to release endorphins and can enhance our mood.

Working online

My approach to online counselling lets you look at things you may want to change in your life or allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings about your experiences, in depth and at your own pace. It allows you to access counselling from the comfort of your own environment.

What to expect in counselling

What we talk about in counselling will be up to you. Each session will be unique and guided entirely by what you need to bring and discuss; you may find that what you intend to bring leads into other threads as we navigate our way together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
