About me

I am Esra Yaman, Counsellor&Therapist based in London, UK. As a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I provide face-to-face and online therapy services worldwide in English and Turkish.

I have been working with a wide range of subjects such as childhood abuse, sexual abuse, attachment issues, relationship difficulties, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, OCD, eating disorders, career planning, personal development and so on.

The therapeutic relationship with my clients is based on the Person-Centred approach and Attachment-Based Psychotherapy. My approach is focused on creating a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment.

The Person-Centered approach emphasises the importance of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness in the therapeutic relationship. This approach recognises that the client is the expert on their own experiences and values, and the therapist’s role is to facilitate their growth and self-understanding. Using the person-centred approach, I focus on creating an empathetic and non-judgmental therapeutic environment in which the client feels heard, understood, and accepted.

Attachment-Based Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the impact of early attachment relationships on our current patterns of behaviour and relationships. This approach recognises that our early experiences with caregivers shape our expectations and beliefs about relationships, and can influence our ability to form healthy attachments as adults. I help clients explore and understand how their early experiences and relationships may have shaped their attachment style and impacted their current relationships and patterns of behaviour. Through this exploration, clients can gain insight into their patterns and make positive changes to improve their relationships and well-being.

By combining these approaches, I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is both supportive and empowering, helping clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships and to work towards positive change and growth.

My goal is to create a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship that empowers clients to grow, learn, and heal. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and walks of life and provide both short-term and long-term therapy options.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
