BSc (Hons) Counsellor: Trauma, Couples & Autism-Affirming

About me

Welcome. I’m really glad you’re here!

Finding the right counsellor can feel tiring, confusing, or even scary, especially if trust has been hard or you’ve scrolled through countless profiles already. If that’s you, you’re not alone.

My aim is to offer a space that feels calm, honest and human. Somewhere you don’t have to mask, explain yourself over and over, or pretend you’re okay when you’re not.

Here, you can talk, cry, laugh, pause, swear, sit quietly, we move gently, at your pace.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I work with both individuals and couples

I support individual adults and couples, including relationships affected by:

  • family issues
  •  raising SEND / neurodivergent children
  •  communication breakdowns
  •  ongoing stress, resentment or disconnect
  • ADHD, autism and emotional overwhelm

My role isn’t to judge or take sides. It’s to help you understand each other better, communicate more clearly, and find steadier ground together.

(Couples work is online only.)

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A style that’s kind and gently honest

I’m warm and supportive, but I’m also real.

I won’t sit back and simply nod. When it feels safe, I’ll gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck, because change rarely happens without something shifting first.

Think of my approach as:

compassionate, steady, grounded- with gentle, thoughtful challenge when it helps.

I’m also quite open as a person. You’re welcome to ask questions about the process or how I work. I’ll always be honest, while keeping clear and healthy boundaries.

A little more about me, as a human

I’m neurodivergent myself and a mum of two SEN children. Life has taught me a lot about overwhelm, resilience, advocacy,  and the emotional toll it can take.

I’ve experienced past abuse, anxiety and difficult periods in my own life, which means I understand how frightening, messy and confusing healing can sometimes feel.

I love yoga and meditation classes that I try to attend often. I also love scenic walks, being near flowing water, and the sense of calm that comes from slowing down. One day, I’d love a motorhome so I can travel, explore and feel even more freedom.

For a long time, my goal was simply to “be happy.”

Now, I see happiness as one part of the picture, a feeling that comes and goes like all others. I value the whole emotional range:

  • anxiety trying to protect us
  • guilt guiding us toward our values
  •  sadness giving contrast so joy feels richer

What I really want is a life that feels simple, peaceful, grounded and free, and I love working alongside people who have goals that they want to achieve, too.

My role isn’t to “fix” you.
You’re already capable.

I simply walk beside you, support you, and help you trust yourself again.

A sensory-aware space

For in-person work, my wellbeing room in Preston Brook is designed with sensory-awareness in mind. This is especially helpful for autistic, ADHD or sensory-sensitive clients.

You can adjust lighting, use fidgets, add background sound, explore calming scents, or curl up with a soft or weighted blanket. We create an environment that works for your nervous system.

Areas I often support with:

  • Anxiety & depression
  •  Family issues and relationship difficulties
  •  Couples counselling
  •  Parenting- especially SEND / neurodivergent families
  •  Autism and ADHD support
  •  Trauma and difficult past experiences
  •  Learning and keeping healthy boundaries

You don’t have to arrive knowing where to start- we’ll figure it out together.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you’re thinking about reaching out

I offer a free 10-minute chat so you can get a feel for me and decide whether I’m the right fit, no pressure.

And if you’re not ready yet, that’s okay. Save my details, come back when it feels right.

Whenever you’re ready, I’m here, to walk alongside you, not lead you somewhere you’re not ready to go.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling, as well as Level 2,3 and a foundation degree in counselling. Also an NVQ in Mental Health Awareness, and specialised training in trauma. Also Autism Affirming Accreditation through the Autism Wellbeing Project and I have completed Oliver McGowan Training, which focuses on autism, neurodiversity, and inclusive practice. Additionally, I have undertaken suicide prevention training.

Experience

I have extensive experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression and wider neurodivergence. As a mum of two neurodivergent children, and someone who is neurodivergent myself, I bring both professional understanding and real lived experience.

I also carry lived experience of abuse and supporting a loved one through cancer, which gives me a deep appreciation of how heavy, frightening and complicated life can sometimes feel.

In my work, I focus on helping people feel heard, calmer and more able to cope, whether they’re navigating family issues, relationship pressures, stress, overwhelm or big life changes. I also have training in suicide awareness and emotional crisis support, offering steady, compassionate guidance when things feel especially difficult.

My approach is gentle, open and grounded, with the aim of helping you find balance, strength and a sense of steadiness again.
