About me

Do you want to blossom into the best version of yourself? Are you tired of feeling like you're trying to please everyone else and suppressing your own needs as a result?

I've worked with people from all walks of life, who are often suffering from depression or higher levels of anxiety than usual, or who have extremely low self-esteem. If that sounds like you, I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help, but I am here to support you through your journey and can honestly say that counselling can transform your life!

Within our work together, I believe that you are the expert of your life. I can help you to think about a 'toolbox' of coping strategies you can use when things feel tough, so that you can move forward positively with your life.

By offering you warmth and compassion, sessions with me will provide you with a space to process and explore your feelings, at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I will act as a 'sounding board' for you to throw your feelings out into the room, with no fear of judgement or criticism.

The aim of our work will be to help you get back to feeling like you again, or even better - an improved version of you with new boundaries, clarity and enhanced self-esteem!

Alongside my Counselling experience, I previously held a 10 year career in a high pressure corporate management role within the recruitment industry. This gave me personal understanding of how stress and pressure at work can negatively impact your overall wellbeing, and has made me feel passionately about wanting to help people in this situation. If you are struggling at work, I would love to support you to reduce your stress, increase your motivation and to achieve that all important work-life balance.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on info@emmamahilcounselling.com. I'd be more than happy to provide any reassurance and answer any questions you have before we begin.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
