About me

Do you feel like the emotional baggage of life is weighing you down? Would you like someone you can explore your thoughts with? Who can help you navigate the messiness of life with, and start to unpick and make sense of your experiences? My name is Emma, and I am a compassionate, friendly and professional psychotherapist who can help you navigate who you are and start to build the life you want.

I am also a registered adult nurse with over ten years of experience working with long term conditions and terminal illness. I believe our mental and physical health are inextricably linked and my work aims to shine a light on how these two aspects interact in your life.

My approach is to guide you through your experiences, both past and present, and for us to work together to create an understanding of who you are in the world and how you interact with your environment, paving the way for a more authentic you.

Send me an email to arrange a no fee 15 min Zoom or telephone call, or book a 30 minute session for £40 to get a sense of what it is like to work with me, and to help you decide if I am the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the BACP and a NMC registered Adult Nurse. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Existential Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am currently working towards a UKCP accredited Professional Doctorate in Existential Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am also a member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association.

I hold professional, personal and civil indemnity insurance and work in accordance with the BACP's Ethical Framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I also have experience in, and I am passionate about the emerging field of psychedelics and their potential benefits for mental health when consumed in a safe and legal environment. I am able to support those who have had challenging experiences with psychedelics or other altered states of consciousness and can help you process and integrate these experiences.
