About me

I am a counsellor in private practice with over 10 years of experience. I have gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from York St John University.

I have a passion for helping men and women navigate relationship problems, heal from negative childhood experiences, enhance their self-esteem, and work through the difficulties that arise from adapting to different cultures.

If you are experiencing anxiety, a sense of loss of identity, or grief due to major life changes such as separation, job loss, parenthood, or the loss of a loved one, I   am here to provide a supportive space where you can freely express your feelings. I will listen, offer guidance and help you rediscover who you are.

Whether you are facing challenges in your present life or seeking to address the underlying causes of past issues, as an experienced counsellor, I can help you gain insight and provide support as you embark on a journey towards healing and personal growth.

As dual national, I bring a unique perspective to my counselling practice, having personal insights into the experience of living between cultures. With my cross-cultural background, I understand the challenges and dynamics that individuals from different cultural backgrounds may face. I provide cultural sensitive counselling that respects and values diverse experiences and perspectives. I am open to work with people from different ages, nationalities, cultures, religions and sexual orientations.

I draw from various therapeutic approaches, including person-centered therapy, transactional analysis, solution focused and attachment theory and tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each person.

I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a collaborative environment and to provide a safe, confidential and inclusive space where my clients can gain a deeper understanding about the unique challenges they face.

Furthermore, I have had the privilege of working for various charities and schools offering counselling to children, parents and adults who may have not had the means to afford it. These experiences have allowed me to work with a diverse range of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, neglect, addiction, self-esteem, trauma, abuse, bereavement and isolation. I am still involved in the charity sector as a trustee on the board of 121 Counselling Charity.

I have completed specialized training with Nick Duffell in working with people who grew up at boarding school or were separated by their parents.  Experiences and challenges faced by ex boarders can have long-lasting effects on their emotional well-being, sense of self–worth and relationships which can manifest later in life.

By integrating trauma informed and attachment theory into my practice, I assist clients in processing past traumas, while also fostering healthier attachment patterns.

I also run nature-based therapy sessions in York for individuals who find traditional talking therapy challenging. It can be particularly helpful for those dealing with stress, anxiety or depression.

It takes courage to examine your difficulties and I can support you in making those first steps. I can be with you on your journey.

If my profile resonates with you, drop me an email. I offer a free 20 minutes introductory session on zoom to help you decide if I am the right counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
