Eliza Dick MBACP
I appreciate at times life can become incredibly challenging, confusing, and therefore a real struggle. Together we can work to help you make sense of this. I will be here to hear you, to try to understand your experiences and provide you with a safe space, free of judgement, which sometimes friends and family are unable to offer. I understand how daunting the prospect of counselling can be, but you have already taken the first step by searching for a counsellor.
Being a qualified Integrative Counsellor means I utilise numerous theories and techniques to help you get the most out of your counselling experience. I draw from various theoretical schools, including Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Gestalt, Object Relations and the Transpersonal. These combined skills enable me to work from a relational perspective (the ‘five-relational’ Clarkson framework), with a goal to aid your therapeutic outcome through the counselling relationship. No two clients are the same, so not being bound to a singular approach means that I can adapt to each individual’s needs.
I believe the therapeutic relationship can offer a healing environment. Through my providing you with a confidential, safe, and non-judgemental space, you can discuss what is troubling you. As a counsellor I do not give advice, but offer an opportunity to reflect and explore your inner feelings and thoughts, from past and present. This may sound challenging, but I will be alongside you in this process, offering compassion and support.
My private practice is based in Guildford, Surrey within The Eaves, where I offer face-to-face (permitting absence of symptoms and in line with government guidelines) open ended or short-term counselling (to young adults and adults). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic I can also offer counselling sessions via Zoom, WhatsApp or telephone.
Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship problems, lack of confidence and financial worries. This has been gained by providing short and long-term therapy to adults, as well as young adults, from various backgrounds and cultures.
Aside from private practice, I have also volunteered within Brunswick Surgery in Surbiton. Here I provided short-term therapy to GP referrals.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
