About me

Are you struggling with low mood or anxiety? Have you experienced trauma and are trying to make sense of it and move on with your life but feel stuck? Perhaps low self-esteem has always been a problem or maybe you find social settings a real struggle?

Hello, I'm Eilidh and am a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR practitioner. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapists (BABCP) in the UK. I qualified as a Psychiatric Nurse in 1998 and have worked with individuals with various psychological problems across a range of hospital and community-based settings.

I mainly use two types of therapy: CBT and EMDR. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) has a proven evidence-base in treating many psychological difficulties (such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem) and teaches self-management techniques, helping you regain a sense of control and empowerment. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is recommended for the treatment of PTSD (National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). It can also treat other difficulties such as anxiety, panic and phobias.

I have also been trained to use approaches including Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Relaxation.

I offer video calling and telephone therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with adults with mental health problems since I turned 18, initially as a Nursing Assistant with Older Adults before deciding to train as a Psychiatric Nurse.
