About me

I am a Senior Counselling Psychologist and MBT Practitioner with a background in the NHS. I work individually, with adults. Everyone is different, and everyone has a unique life full of challenges and strengths. Thus, the aim of my work is to collaboratively focus on what you may want and need help with. Some people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by a lack of control over their lives, experiencing helplessness and vulnerability as they strive to find different and more helpful ways to live a meaningful life. Others seek therapeutic help when they have a general sense that 'something is not quite right' or 'something needs to change.' Most people come to me for profound change, which takes time and hard work, although we can also focus on specific short-term goals, such as symptom removal.

Whatever the reasons are, it's important to me that you feel safe and accepted, enabling you to explore your difficult experiences, understand what troubles you, accept what cannot be changed, and change what can be changed. This therapeutic process can help you learn how to break the cycle of hopelessness and find helpful ways out of your experiences of stuckness. We will also focus on your strength’s while we work towards desirable change.

Furthermore, in our psychotherapy sessions, I will aim to explore and understand the challenges you face in your outer world—life difficulties in relationships with partners, family, or other loved ones, in your employment or professional setting, and/or any other aspect of your life.

The therapeutic work can help you to find new ways to relate with yourself and others around you; to distinguish if what you do is meaningful to you or if you merely follow the expectations of others; to explore and expand new possibilities for personal change, and to build more fulfilling personal relationships.

Training, qualifications & experience

I obtained my Counselling Psychology doctorate (PsychD) from the University of Roehampton in London.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). Additionally, I am an accredited Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) Practitioner. With over 8 years of experience, I have worked in NHS primary and secondary care, as well as community counseling services. My experience involves working with patients dealing with a variety of mental health issues.

Currently, in addition to my private practice, where I offer individual counseling and psychological therapy, I work as a Counselling Psychologist in secondary care (MBT and Psychodynamic services) for the NHS.

My approach is rooted in a pluralistic model, integrating elements from psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, and cognitive-behavioral therapeutic modalities. This means that different theories or therapeutic models may be more or less helpful at different points in time, depending on your needs or preferences along your therapeutic journey.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
