About me

I am an experienced BPC and BACP registered Counsellor working in the centre of Bath. Whatever you are facing, counselling can offer a place to talk in confidence about what is troubling you.

Psychodynamic counseling can help address your current problems, whatever these may be. I will think with you to make sense of your life experiences in the past and explore how they are affecting you in the present.

I will not impose a prescribed treatment plan on the process, but will meet you where you are emotionally, working with you to find your own way to a better understanding of yourself, and to find your strength to manage whatever is causing you difficulty.

I offer open-ended and shorter-term work, depending on what is going on for you.

From the beginning of life, we are dependent on another person to help us make sense of the world and ourselves. Sometimes in adult life too, we need another person to help us make sense of what happens and how we feel about it- and to help us move forward.

If you are feeling low, anxious, confused or stuck, or simply want to understand yourself better, Counselling can be a great help.

Training, qualifications & experience

Prior to training as a counsellor, I trained and worked in mental health services, including mental health charities, drug and alcohol services, and for the NHS. This has provided me with 20 years experience working with people seeking emotional resolution.

In addition to my private practice, I also work in a specialist trauma service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Once you contact me I will offer you one or two initial consultations for us to make sure we can work together to improve your current situation. Sessions are then weekly, at the same time and day each week. For some people, twice-weekly sessions can be beneficial, but for others once-weekly work is the better choice.

I work in the centre of Bath, at the Practice Rooms, which is a beautiful and confidential setting. I can also offer private and secure sessions online.
