HCPC Psychologist/ EMDR & BACP accredited Psychotherapist

About me

I am an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist and BACP accredited trauma psychotherapist. I work with adults who have experienced trauma, abuse, difficult relationships, loss, emotional neglect, or long periods of having to be “the strong one”.

Often, the people I work with are insightful and capable, but find themselves repeating old patterns, struggling with boundaries, feeling responsible for everyone else, or finding it hard to feel safe in their own lives.

How I can help
Some of my clients have difficult histories, some have complicated relationships with others, and some have complicated relationships with themselves. Many are trying to make sense of patterns that once helped them survive but now feel painful or limiting.

Therapy can help you understand what has happened, how it has affected you, and why certain responses, feelings or relationship patterns may keep showing up. I start from the belief that you are trying your best to cope, even when things feel difficult, messy or hard to explain.

How I work
My approach is warm, grounded and collaborative. I won’t sit silently and leave you to work it all out alone, but I also won’t rush you, overwhelm you, or push you faster than your system can manage.

Together, we can make sense of what has happened, how it has affected you, and what helps you begin to feel steadier, more connected, and more yourself.

Getting started
If life is feeling too heavy, too confusing, or too much to carry alone, please get in touch and we can think together about whether I may be the right therapist for you. Feeling as though you are coping on the outside, while inside feeling anxious, overwhelmed, numb, angry, ashamed, stuck or exhausted, does not have to be permanent.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Chartered Psychologist, CBT psychotherapist and EMDR practitioner with over 16 years’ experience. I specialise in trauma, including single-event trauma, complex trauma, toxic or abusive relationships, difficult family environments, coercive control, shame, anxiety and low self-worth.

Alongside therapy, I have extensive forensic experience supporting people with emotion regulation, aggression, offending behaviour and addictions. I am comfortable working with complexity, strong feelings and difficult histories, and my approach is warm, active and grounded.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
