About us

Considering therapy can feel like a big step and finding the right therapist for you is important. Dialogues Counselling Service provides affordable therapy in Hebden Bridge, Calderdale, and the surrounding areas of West Yorkshire.

Whoever you are and whatever you're going through we can support you to find a deeper understanding of yourself and what's going on.

Dialogues Counselling Service was born out of a passion to make counselling accessible to anyone seeking it. Our aim is to offer adults and young people (16-19) in West Yorkshire the opportunity to meet regularly with a therapist and pay what you can afford.

We recognise that often the main barrier to someone seeking therapy is the financial cost. We want to remove that barrier so that more people can experience the benefits of therapy and live the kind of life that feels worth living.

Most people, at some stage in their lives find it helpful to talk about things confidentially and in private with someone who is not a member of their family or a friend. So whether there are big problems or smaller problems, we are here to listen.

We are dedicated to improving the emotional wellbeing of our community. So if you, or someone you know of is living with difficulties that could include:

Anxiety, stress, abuse, anger, depression and addictions.

Don't hesitate to reach out by emailing direct or via the website and you’ll be met with friendliness, respect and confidentiality.

Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, and surrounding areas of West Yorkshire.

We offer means tested face to face appointments of 50 minutes in duration, 7 days a week with sessions at a cost you can afford.

Our centrally located offices have parking and public transport routes nearby.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our non profit organisation is run by a team of highly qualified, experienced professional counsellors, psychotherapists and supervisors. We support trainees within our organisation and offer affordable support within the local community. All our professionals are either BACP registered members or are Accredited with BACP.

Our therapists describe themselves as Integrative which means they have a range of skills and 'tools' that they use to support their clients. This means that they are able to work with clients individually in bespoke ways, because they understand that one way of working doesn't suit everyone. We will allocate you to someone with the specific skills and experience to work with you.

We are bound by a strict code of ethics and principles set out by the BACP and we adhere to those ethics stringently. Assuring clients of safety, confidentiality and ethics within all our work.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
