About me
Hi there, I work with adults, children and young people who are experiencing anxiety, depression and challenges with family relationships, including loss and bereavement. I offer in person and online appointments to clients in Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, and surrounding areas of West Yorkshire.
I work in a humanistic, relational way, which means I will focus on building a therapeutic relationship with you, and it is my aim that you will, in time, feel able to communicate your thoughts and feelings in a way that helps you. Communication extends beyond using words and sometimes we can find new and creative ways to express ourselves- this can look like drawing, model making, play and therapy outdoors. Walk and talk therapy is something I offer to adult clients who will find it beneficial. Please feel welcome to ask me about this when you enquire.
I offer telephone, online and in person sessions at the Town hall in central Hebden Bridge. It's easy to get to via public transport and there's plenty of parking. I am able to meet with you in a way that is most helpful to you. My clients tell me they find me warm, empathic and non-judgemental and within the confidential space we create, it is my aim that you’ll feel able to explore what is most important to you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I offer an initial phone call which is usually around 20 minutes, it's an opportunity for you to ask any questions about how we might work we might together.
During the first session, my focus will be on how I can best support you and understand your therapeutic needs and the areas that you would particularly like to work on and together we will create a plan. The first session may be a little different to subsequent sessions as I might ask more questions so that I can get to know what will work for you. There’s nothing you need to do, except be open to the process. Please allow 50 minutes for each session and we will always aim to start and finish on time.
I offer a sliding scale to my fees to clients who feel they may be eligible, please do mention it on first contact. Spaces are limited.

Further information
Hello,
Finding the right therapist is a big decision and at a time when you might be feeling overwhelmed and in need of support, it can feel like a daunting process. The most important thing is to find a therapist who you feel you could, over time begin to feel comfortable with.
Because every person is unique and has their own experience of life and what has happened to them, I don’t believe there is a one size fits all therapy approach so together we will explore what is going on and what would help.
I use a variety of therapeutic models along with active listening skills within a non-judgemental and boundaried framework. You can be assured of safety, respect and confidentiality.
I have a special interest in working with clients who present having experienced trauma which can either be a number of events over a period of time or a big event. Perhaps that trauma shows itself in life as self-harm, anxiety or depression. Or perhaps there is grief or loss in your life. I work well with clients from the LGBTQ+ community and all my clients can be assured of a safe space to be themselves.
