About me

Speaking aloud and verbalising your thoughts and emotions can let you see them from a different perspective, helping you cope better with everyday life. I can offer you a confidential therapeutic space to help you articulate and work through your issues, explore unhelpful patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, and help you focus on making positive changes so that you can move forward and get on with living your life.

I have worked as a counsellor for over 10 years. I work with adults and young people (13+) at my private practice based in the centre of Thame

I also work in secondary schools as a counsellor, working with students and staff, alongside my private practice.

Counselling is undoubtedly a unique source of support for whole range of psychological issues, including anxiety, anger, and depression. However, counselling is not just for mental health problems, it is also useful for things like working through relational problems - with partners, friends or family, work stress, difficult life events and challenges that might affect your daily functioning.

I strongly believe that building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client is the key to successful therapeutic outcomes. However, it is useful to know what kind of therapy you might be offered to help you reach your goals. As an integrative practitioner I am able to utilise a variety of therapeutic techniques including psychotherapeutic, cognitive behavioural therapy and creative work. We can work together to determine which therapeutic model might be most suited to you as an individual and your specific challenges.

If you’re not sure if I’m the right practitioner for you or your child, I can offer you a free 20 minute telephone consultation where we can talk about what you hope to get out of counselling and you can ask me any questions you may have before you commit to booking a session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Counselling Diploma and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People with the University of Northampton.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
