My name is Denise John, I am a person-centred counsellor. I have a passion for helping people to overcome deep-rooted issues in a caring, supportive and approachable manner. I counsel people with anxiety and depression but I also excel in several other areas which affect mental health.

Working at your pace to enable you to recognise those painful thoughts, feelings and emotions which may be holding you back.
By talking to me you will develop a deep trusting, psychological relationship which will enable you to explore your difficulties in a meaningful, supportive, and professional manner. You will also feel that you have been heard and really understood in a non-judgmental way, possibility for the first time in your life.

Thus increasing your resilience and self-esteem to be able to face your problems with a greater level of self-confidence. There are many other areas in which I have gained experience over the years including addiction, dependant personality disorder, chronic illness, panic attacks, abortion, and low self-esteem.

Working in private practice as well as in the voluntary sector, I offer the same high standard of compassionate care for all of my clients. My caring, considerate and attentive manner will create a congenial and safe atmosphere to enable you to communicate all of your worries.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere to their ethical code of practice. I undertake regular monthly supervision as part of my training and development. I hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
