About me

I predominantly work with clients who have issues with anxiety and depression.  Clients visit me face to face in my warm, welcoming, and comfortable counselling space. They feel relaxed, safe, and secure which enables them to talk in a free and confidential manner about what is troubling them.

Sometimes my clients don't know why they feel the way they do. So together we will explore what is ailing you and by working together discover what you can do to put things right.

If you feel uneasy or have worries or fears these could make you feel anxious. Anxiety is your body's natural response to stress but if your symptoms last longer than 6 months you could have General Anxiety Disorder.  This could mean that your feelings of anxiety are intense and debilitating then they could stop you from getting on with your life and doing the things that you enjoy. Talking to me will help you overcome these feelings of anxiety and you will know yourself in a deeper and happier way and you with begin to understand yourself more fully.

Are you feeling unhappy, hopeless or have low self-esteem? Do you find little pleasure in doing the things that you used to enjoy. These symptoms may be a sign that you are suffering from depression.  Depression is not something that you can just 'snap out of' and people may tell you to 'pull yourself together' it is not that easy.

Talking therapies can play a big part in your treatment for depression and help get you on the road to recovery. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you change the way you look at certain events that may be causing you some trouble.

My support will enable you to have a greater understanding of your issues and help you to locate inner-strength. Thus increasing your resilience and self-esteem and so enable you to face your problems with a greater level of self-confidence. You will feel that you have been listened to in a non-judgmental way. Together we will explores your feelings and emotions helping you to deal with your problems head on and enabling you to achieve a satisfactory conclusion.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

As well as running my private practice I have several years experience working within the charity sector as a volunteer counsellor.  Whilst there I have worked with a wide variety of people including business professionals, the self-employed as well as employees of large countrywide organisations.

Increasingly I have counselled people whose mental health has been affected by the current Covid- 19 crisis.  If you have been isolated from your workplace and family because of the restrictions you may find that your mood has been affected and you may not be coping as well as you have in the past.
