About me

I am an experienced counsellor and I work with many people experiencing difficulties with their mental health. These difficulties may include anxiety and depression, bereavement and loss or relationship issues. If you feel uneasy or have worries or fears about the changes in the world at the moment these could make you feel very anxious. Anxiety is your body's natural response to stress but if it continues for a prolonged period of time you could have General Anxiety Disorder. Your feelings of anxiety may be intense and debilitating then they could stop you from getting on with your life and doing the things you enjoy.

Talking to me will help you overcome these feelings of anxiety and you will know yourself in a deeper and happier way and you will begin to understand yourself more fully. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you view your issues in a different way.

I work with young people aged 16 and above to help them to cope with problems that are affecting their lives. Are you worried about school, college, finding a job? There are many other issues which can affect young people as they begin to make their way in a changing world.

Are you feeling unhappy, hopeless or have low self-esteem? Do you find little pleasure in doing the things that you used to enjoy. These symptoms may be a sign that you are suffering from depression.  Depression is not something that you can just 'snap out of' and people may tell you to 'pull yourself together' it is not that easy. I use Person-Centred Therapy which is a talking therapy which can play a big part in your treatment for depression and help get you on the road to recovery.

Clients visit me face to face in my warm, welcoming, and comfortable counselling space. They feel relaxed, safe, and secure which enables them to talk in a free and confidential manner about what is troubling them.

My support will enable you to have a greater understanding of your issues and help you to locate inner-strength. Thus increasing your resilience and self-esteem and so enable you to face your problems with a greater level of self-confidence. You will feel that you have been listened to in a non-judgmental way. Together we will explore your feelings and emotions helping you to deal with your problems head on and enabling you to achieve a satisfactory conclusion.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

As well as running my private practice I have several years experience working within the charity sector as a volunteer counsellor.  Whilst there I have worked with a wide variety of people including business professionals, the self-employed as well as employees of large countrywide organisations.

Increasingly I have counselled people whose mental health has been affected by relationships with a partner or parent.  Although I offer relationship counselling this is for the individual as I do not currently offer couples counselling.
