About me

Welcome, I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor qualified from the University of South Wales and registered with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer long or short-term counselling to individuals over the age of 18.

Integrative counselling aims to tailor therapy to your individual needs and circumstances. My aim is to offer a warm, safe and non-judgmental space, where together we can explore what you are experiencing and feeling. Life may feel overwhelming and making changes can be difficult. Working closely alongside you, I can help you recognise specific triggers that may cause disruptive behaviours. This awareness can empower you to practise new behaviours and make the changes you want to discover greater life satisfaction.  I will draw upon several approaches such as psychodynamic, person-centred, humanistic and CBT. The aim of this approach is to promote your mental, physical and emotional health to be maximised to its full potential.

My office is based in Beechwood Park in Newport, South Wales. There is free parking for clients and it is easily accessible by public transport. The tranquil park can be used before or after sessions to have time to reflect. The first session allows us to get to know each other and identify what you would like to gain from therapy. There is no obligation to book further sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Postgraduate Diploma Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP Accredited) University of South Wales
  • Postgraduate Certificate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (BACP Accredited) University of South Wales
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling

My experience includes working with adults from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds both on a long and short-term basis. Alongside this, I have additional training in working with clients who have experienced childhood trauma. I regularly attend professional development workshops.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
