About me
Hello,
I am an independent psychotherapeutic practitioner. I am both a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and hold an Honours (BSc) degree in Integrative Counselling.
My approach is to work creatively with client autonomy and integrate a dynamic therapy striving to meet each clients individuality: when working with issues such as Anxiety/Stress; OCD; Relationship issues; Life difficulties/Changes; Depression; Domestic abuse; Bereavement; to bring focus to our work. Please see the extensive list of areas (Mental Health issues) I work with below.
I offer both long and short-term counselling and psychotherapy to everyone 18 years of age and over. I offer a therapeutic, non-judgemental and confidential service.
Within our therapeutic environment, empathy, compassion and respect is at the heart of our work together. My integrative practice and philosophy is a blend of a humanistic stance and belief in the recurrent evolutionary ability to develop through relationships. I firmly believe that a robust therapeutic relationship can alleviate mental distress. By experiencing my own personal journey through therapy, I am mindful of each client’s individual uniqueness. My aim is to be creative in facilitating and building a unique therapeutic relationship.
Life can be very challenging: at times seeking professional help may well be the right way forward to bring resolve to your challenges through a confidential therapeutic relationship. Our first meeting will be an exploration of what you feel you need from our sessions and how best to support you with this. Ultimately our relationship is key, and this will allow us to engage and assess our suitability to work together.

Experience:
My experience of counselling within a 'Sexual Abuse Referral Centre' was resourceful in broadening my knowledge of how trauma from childhood may impact our adult relationships; and how the impact of sexual abuse in adulthood/childhood can impact our daily lives. In addition, my time spent there brought experience in working with self-harm; OCD; domestic abuse; depression; anxiety; sexual exploitation; bereavement.
I attended an 8 week in-depth stress reduction 'Mindfulness' course for my personal development and to advance my experience and knowledge of this technique within my practice.
I have worked as a voluntary telephone support worker with Parent line plus
Counselling can help us to gain insight into how we relate within our relationships and discover new ways of being: creating new patterns of relating and cultivating a stronger sense of 'self'.
Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
