About me

As a counsellor, I am passionate about working with people towards a more fulfilling and empowered life.  Together we can explore, not what's wrong with you, but what's happened to you.  A greater awareness of ourselves can allow a greater compassion for ourselves and enable us to make choices more suited to our real needs.  Life can sometimes be difficult through no fault of our own.

I aim to create a safe, empathic and non-judgmental environment so you can talk freely and confidentially as we explore these things together each week.

My theoretical approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a group of theories; some will help us understand what is going on in the here and now and other theories inform our understanding of how the past has contributed to this.  This awareness opens us up to making more informed choices for ourselves going forwards.  We are all ultimately the expert on ourselves but this can be skewed as we grow up and take on expectations and values of those around us and the world around us.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) I follow their ethical guidelines, undertaking supervision to ensure safe practice for both my clients and myself; and undergoing regular professional development training.

I have a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I work with a wide range of mental health and wellbeing issues.

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling
  • CPCAB Level 3 in Counselling Theory
  • CPCAB Level 2 in Counselling Skills

I have worked with a various concerns including anxiety, depression, abuse, relationship difficulties, work issues and low self-esteem.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
