About me

My Clients

I  work with a varied range of clients from teenage years through to older clients  , people experiencing relationship issues .I work with relationship issues ,depression, anxiety bereavement and loss , work related stress and loss of motivation . I also work with clients who have low self esteem . I also help clients who have experienced a period of change or turmoil and through therapy help them make sense of this and restore a sense of calm and order in their lives .

I have  worked with professionals in extremely stressful jobs , clients with life limiting health conditions and clients with family issues  . The main thing to know about my approach is that  I value everyone equally and really try to help clients feel welcome and relaxed.

I am an experienced and established counsellor, I have worked successfully with many  clients helping them with low self esteem, relationship issues , anxiety, depression, social anxiety, work related issues, family issues and bereavement. I help clients to understand their feelings and make sense of their lives .I have also helped clients experiencing feelings of guilt and shame, and clients who want to make changes but feel 'stuck' .

I also work extensively with clients who are experiencing significant adverse life events such as bereavement, relationship breakdown or the illness of a loved one .

I am an animal lover myself and I also specialise in working clients how have experienced pet bereavement .I understand how devastating this can be .

Having an understanding counsellor to talk things through with can help greatly in these situations .

I have my own private practise- Focus Counselling Cheshire and I also work with private clients at a very well respected counselling organisation based in East Cheshire.

My Approach

Firstly I really listen to my clients ,I try to understand their issues from their viewpoint , I try to work with my clients in a way which is open ,and helpful.

I do not impose my own feelings,  thoughts or opinions on clients instead I support  them to understand themselves so that they can find their own way .

Counselling requires a fresh approach with each new client . There is no ‘one size fits all’ solution! I believe that every client is unique and I work in a way that suits the client ,every client is different and differences are valued.

I understand that having counselling can be a difficult undertaking but I have seen it help so many people , so I really want to do all I can to make it a positive experience for all my clients , and hopefully one that will change their lives for the better .

How I work

I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions lasting 50 minutes . I work either face to face from counselling rooms in Marple and Poynton or online via Zoom  . I am flexible about when sessions take place and understand that it can be difficult for clients to find time for sessions.Zoom sessions work really well for clients who have busy lives .

My Values

I believe that we all have the capacity to heal and grow if we receive the necessary support and care . The starting point for this is to feel heard and understood.

I believe in equality for all but also celebrate the uniqueness in every individual.

I also work with clients to find ways to help themselves outside of their sessions , this can include breathing exercises , reframing thoughts and tactics for dealing with anxiety .

Because I value my clients ,I work in an open, honest and professional manner but always in a warm and welcoming way .

Please  contact me for more information or to book a session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
