David Wigglesworth MBACP Reg, FdCs, Dip Couns
Are you considering counselling?
I am an experienced Person-Centered Therapist offering face-to face sessions at my Falmouth based practice, as well as online-therapy for those who prefer to access counselling from their own home. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and also a Professional Member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO).
I offer a safe, supportive and confidential therapeutic space in which clients can explore and work through difficult issues and challenging life events, such as panic and anxiety, depression, bereavement & loss, drug and alcohol related issues, relationship difficulties and adapting to significant life changes. Please see below for further details on my approach.
I am available to meet clients face-to-face at my Private Practice, a short distance from Falmouth town. Online Therapy, via an encrypted videoconferencing platform (similar to Skype) is also available, and may be of particular use to those experiencing limited mobility, time restraints or travel difficulties. Please ask for details.
I answer all enquiries so please do check your junk / spam folder if you don't see my reply.
If you are considering Counselling, or simply aren’t sure, I offer a free initial assessment session where we can meet and discuss how I may be of service to you. If you would like to book a private, no-fee assessment session, or have any queries, I can be contacted by using the phone number or email link above.
More about my approach:
As an experienced Person-Centered therapist I work with a set of skills and attitudes that honor the uniqueness and autonomy of each client. Rather than offering treatment programs based on diagnostic labels, I work in a way that responds to an individuals personal experiencing of their world and the meanings it holds for them. Our life circumstances and conditioning often conspire to throw us off balance and tie us in knots, resulting in us not being able to trust and rely on our own inner resources. This can leave us feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed in other ways, negatively affecting our quality of life and ability to manage well in our personal circumstances.
Person-Centered Therapy is an effective way of beginning to untangle these knots and move towards becoming more fulfilled, self-directed and independent individuals. It is a process of discovery and insight, which may often be challenging as we confront aspects of our lives that we find difficult and distressing. Ultimately, as we begin to understand our moods and motivations more clearly, beginning to integrate new insights and new aspects of ourselves into our personality, we begin the process of moving towards greater self-compassion, self-acceptance and healing.
