About me

Hi, I'm Colette

I am a registered member of the BACP and work as an integrative counsellor, bringing together person-centred and psychodynamic approaches to provide the best care for my clients. I provide a supportive and understanding environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences at a pace set by you.

None of us know what’s around the corner in life; it’s often the case that we suddenly find ourselves in the midst of life’s next challenge. I can provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment for you to discuss issues that are impacting you.

A place for you to share and reflect on issues that may be troubling or difficult to work through. Perhaps you’re not sure where they stem from; your difficulties may relate to a specific issue, or you may simply be feeling a sense of discomfort or unease, stuck or overwhelmed. The reality is we are all human, and these feelings are common to us all. In a warm, supportive environment we can explore any issues that you may be struggling with together, whilst respecting your individuality and autonomy.

If you’re thinking ‘why counselling?’ I believe the more we are able to talk in a safe, unconditional and confidential environment, the better we get to know ourselves and understand our needs. I believe that if we have a problem, we also have the answer. Sometimes we just need some help to find it.

I have worked with a variety of ages, cultures and issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems and abuse. I work both open ended and time limited – usually in blocks of six sessions focusing on a specific issue.

The therapeutic relationship is key to successful therapy so I offer a free 15-minute call to understand a little more about what’s going on, and for you to see if you think I may be the right person to help you. Please email me to arrange a convenient time. If we feel that we can work together, we will establish a regular, weekly appointment, either in person, online or over the telephone, and begin the work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
