About me

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to view my profile page.

I am a humanistic, integrative counsellor working face to face from my home in the market town of Bourne in South Lincolnshire. Since the pandemic, I am also offering to work remotely via telephone or online if that is more convenient for you.

I can work with adults from age 18 with no upper age limit.

Life can be challenging in so many ways and it is often in our darkest hour that we can feel most alone,  sometimes even when we are physically surrounded by others. Perhaps you find yourself struggling with a particularly difficult life event right now, or you have felt burdened by multiple issues for a long time. You may not even know why you feel the way you do, but just have a sense that something isn't right. If that's the case, then counselling could provide you with a safe environment for exploration. A place of non-judgement where you can feel truly heard, perhaps for the first time ever.

I fully appreciate how overwhelming it can be when faced with so many therapists working from different approaches to choose the right person for you. I felt much the same way when choosing a therapist for myself as part of my own training. I didn't know where to begin.

Professional jargon aside, it might help you to know that as an integrative therapist, I draw from several different approaches to work in a way that will be uniquely tailored to your needs during our time together.

Above all else, the quality of the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of my practice, where I endeavour to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and warmth.

I offer both short and long term therapy to adults of all ages. Sometimes just a few sessions is enough to work through whatever is troubling you, sometimes more in-depth work is required. I fully believe the client has the ability to know what is best for them. My role is to be led by you and walk alongside you as you explore your choices.

If you feel you might like to work with me we can arrange an initial 15 minute telephone consultation before committing to meeting in person.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
