About me

Thank you for reading my profile as I understand reaching out for help and support is a big step.  My name is Claire and I have undertaken 3 years of training to become a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor.

I believe everyone has the right to be heard, as holding worries can feel isolating and overbearing at times.  I am passionate about supporting and empowering individuals to make sense of their current or past experiences.

My approach to counselling allows me to offer a tailored, confidential and supportive environment for you to share your concerns, worries and fears.  No two clients are the same and by working together we can;

1. establish the best way for you to get the most out of therapy

2. identify and prioritise what you need

3. develop ways for you to move forward independently.

Choosing a counsellor that is right for you is so important, which is why I offer a free 10 minute introduction call and you can then decide if we can work together.

If you feel that I might be able to support you, please get in touch and we can arrange a mutual time.

I am a registered member of MBACP and work in accordance with their ethical guidelines.

I am a qualified relational integrative psychotherapist and counsellor.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Accredited)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Integrative Counselling Skills
  • Online counselling primer, issued by The OU and the BACP

Experience

In addition to private practice I have gained invaluable experience in the third sector at Affordable Talk and currently work as a sessional counsellor at Cardiff Mind.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
