About me

I trained as an integrative humanistic therapist and practice as a person-centred counsellor.

As part of my diploma, I had to have so many hours of personal counselling. My reaction to this was why? "I don't have anything to talk about, nothings bothering me". The reason for this was to understand counselling/therapy from a client's perspective and to feel what it's like to explore areas that you think do not have an impact on you, to feel different emotions and understand why. For me personally, it was one of the most positive experiences I have had. I did not connect with the first counsellor I met and so I met with another one and felt comfortable straight away. She did not ask me questions or prompt me in any way. I was quite surprised how I began to talk about my past and issues  that I had kept hidden for years. I also had sessions that did not involve my past but about the present and everyday issues, college, work, family, stress, laughter and most importantly it was about me for 50 minutes once a week feeling comfortable and safe to talk about anything I wanted to.

I provide a safe, private and confidential space for you to feel comfortable and to allow you to find the ability within yourself to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will not inform you or advise you on what to do to enable change within yourself, but I will be with you to guide you through your process of your counselling journey. I am not here to judge you, I am here to listen and provide my skills and empathy to help you explore.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
