About me

Hello, welcome to my profile. I am trained as an integrative humanistic therapist and practice as a person-centred therapist.

As part of my diploma, I had to have so many hours of personal counselling. My reaction to this was why? "I don't have anything to talk about, nothings bothering me". The reason for this was to understand counselling/therapy from a client's perspective and to feel what it's like to explore areas that you think do not have an impact on you, to feel different emotions and understand why. For me personally, it was one of the most positive experiences I have had. I did not connect with the first counsellor I met and so I met with another one and felt comfortable straight away. She did not ask me questions or prompt me in any way. I was quite surprised how I began to talk about my past and issues  that I had kept hidden for years. I also had sessions that did not involve my past but about the present and everyday issues, college, work, family, stress, laughter and most importantly it was about me for 50 minutes once a week feeling comfortable and safe to talk about anything I wanted to.

I provide a safe, private and confidential space for you to feel comfortable and to allow you to find the ability within yourself to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will not inform you or advise you on what to do to enable change within yourself, but I will be with you to guide you through your process of your counselling journey. I am not here to judge you, I am here to listen and provide my skills and empathy to help you explore.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

Unfortunately, due to geographical location there is no disabled access. There are two sets of three steps with a handrail on the left side leading to one set of two steps. These steps are not steep and are cleared of any ice in the winter months. I do offer home visits for those of you who may find it difficult to leave your home for whatever reason. This could be because of no disabled access to counselling facilities or maybe you have concerns around leaving your home. A five-mile radius from NG5 would be acceptable for me, but please call me to allow me to consider a further distance. Please be mindful that to have counselling at your own home you would be required to be on your own for the purpose of confidentiality.

There is parking available all the time.

There is a 5-10 minute walk from the main bus routes. NCT 15, 17, 19, 79, 87, 88 and 89.

Other buses are available which stop on hucknall road which is approximately a 15 minute walk.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I abide by their ethical framework for good practice. I have civil liability insurance.
