About me

We as humans all face challenge and difficulty at times in our lives.

Psychotherapy and Counselling is designed to offer you empathy and mutual understanding of challenges facilitated by a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship.

This relationship is one of confidence, and compassion, and puts your needs at the heart of the work and seeks to provide you with the tools to live in a more fulfilling way.

Therapy can be transformative in healing- processing difficulties that may have happened to you in the past, by gaining that impartial support to resource you in the present.

I am a warm and responsive therapist, offering quality psychotherapy and counselling from the heart.

I understand the vulnerability that presents itself when engaging in therapy, and I understand how it is to be a client.

Because of this, my aim is to create the safest, personalised space for difficulties to be explored in, collaboratively.

I offer a confidential, safe space to work through difficulties, to feel acknowledged and seen, without judgement.

I believe the relationship between client and therapist is the heart of the work, and I aim to make therapy safe and feel contained and secure within our relationship.

I work with adults 18+, using Integrative therapy, this means we can work together and tailor-make your support using different therapeutic approaches.

I work face to face in Exeter, and I work remotely via video call, to suit your needs and preferences.

I available for short or long term therapy as suitable, your needs can be discussed at our initial meeting.

About my practice.

You may have suffered a bereavement or loss, trauma or PTSD, or you may want to work on a something specific, such as low self esteem, relational difficulties such as estrangement or wanting to explore your own emotions in a safe way. This isn't definitive, you're welcome to explore experiences that arise for you, as they happen and for this to be accepted.

I am trained to work with anxiety disorders, depression or low mood, OCD, specific phobia's and binge eating disorder. This approach may be best for clients seeking more short term therapy, who would like support in a solution focussed sense.

I have a wealth of experience within the NHS, my background is in Health and Social care, and I have worked with many groups of diverse people in both medical and mental health hospitals.

I have worked as a therapist for local NHS services and as a NHS staff Counsellor.

Life experience has broadened my capacity to relate and respond to people, and meet you as you are now without fear of judgment.

What is Integrative therapy?

Using an Integrative approach- meaning using different therapeutic theories offers you a holistic and personalised therapy session, one size does not fit all, it's important to me to me to be dynamic and flexible to fit you best.

Trust is the bedrock of any functional, healthy relationship, and this is what the therapeutic alliance aims to develop. Building trust offers benefits, one of which and it's often spoken as the biggest factor in why people seek therapy, is the impartiality of the relationship, the knowledge that someone is on your side.

You might want to explore the past, and look at what has led you to this point in your life, to gain a deeper understanding of your experience, assess patterns and understand your current autonomy. This is called working Psychodynamically. This approach may be open ended and be explorative and inquisitive in nature. Difficult events can be processed with the support of the therapeutic alliance.

You may want to move forward in the now and stay with the present and understand how you think and behave has impacts on your emotions which can be helpful in creating change. This approach might be called solution focussed, wanting to achieve a desired goal. CBT is useful for this type of difficulty.
