About me

Hello and thank you for considering counselling. I am an experienced Person-Centred counsellor who uses a talking approach and listens to your individual experience with empathy and kindness.  Are you finding yourself feeling more worried or anxious? Feeling stuck and unable to move forward. Maybe there is something you really need to talk about but are scared it might not make sense or wouldn't be understood by your family or friends. I provide an empathic space that is non-judgmental and confidential to talk and feel heard. Our personal situation or feelings can be confusing, and leave us angry, frightened, tearful, sad or alone with our worries. Wishing things could be different, wanting to change but not knowing where to start. Counselling is a place to explore how you are feeling now, at your pace and to work out what you need to move towards feeling better.

I understand it may seem embarrassing or painful at first to talk about what’s happened. I have worked alongside individuals experiencing issues of identity, infidelity, sexuality, sexual abuse and violence supporting those struggling with the effects of PTSD, trauma, shame, and negative childhood experiences. recent diagnosis and ill health, including those caring for children/partners on the Autistic Spectrum ASC/Asperger’s. I believe by being curious about our story and giving personal challenges the understanding they deserve can lead to insight and healing. What happened in the past does not need to define who you are now or stop you from being who you want to be.

I offer an initial, no-obligation, 20-minute telephone call to find out if counselling is right for you. Followed by 50 minutes 1-2-1 sessions either in person, online or by Telephone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
