About me
I am an experienced Psychodynamic counsellor and therapist. I work with adults and young people experiencing difficulties in their life. I offer a non-judgmental and supportive approach and work with each clients individual needs.
Psychodynamic Counselling takes into account all aspects of a persons life, the present situation, past experiences and the unconscious. I work in a flexible and supportive way to enable you to experience a personal and individual journey through therapy, a journey that can lead to greater insight and understanding of yourself.
With both adults and young people I can work with a range of issues including depression and anxiety, panic attack, fears and phobias, trauma and abuse, bereavement, illness, self harming, relationship problems, parenting, life changes, post natal depression, sexual problems, health issues.
You may not be fully aware of the reasons for your distress or difficulties and this is where Psychodynamic counselling can really help. By focusing on the unconscious patterns of behaving and relating you can begin to understand what has led you to experience things a certain way. Counselling can offer a neutral space away from the pressures of daily life where you can speak without fear of judgement. Having someone to think with you on a regular basis can lead to more personal clarity and therefore an ability to move forward in life.
I have a safe and private consulting room in the center of Frome. The first time we meet we will discuss whether the counselling I offer is right for you. If you want to proceed we would then meet for weekly 50 min sessions at the same day and time each week. I can offer both short term work and long term therapy.
Counselling young people.
I have worked with children and young people for over 20 years in both educational and caring capacities. I am trained to work therapeutically with children and young people and I have experience as a school counsellor.
In my work with young people I can help them explore the difficulties of change, transition and growing up and explore their relationships, I can also help with trauma, bullying, bereavement, exam stress, self harm, sexuality, school problems and family issues. Where appropriate I offer parent support when working with a child.
Training Patient Opportunity
I am currently in training as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with the Severnsisde Institute for Psychotherapy in Bristol. As part of this training I have availability for a training patient. This is an opportunity to have 3 times weekly therapy for the cost of one session a week for 2 years. Working in this way with a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist can bring about profound change and aid a deeper understanding of the self. Please email me to enquire for more details.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
