About me

I believe that therapy is most effective when the client and therapist approach the difficulty together in a collaborative way. Through the development of a positive therapeutic relationship, I aim to support you to discover new ways of viewing and coping with your difficulties, in order to live a life that is meaningful to you. This will be different from one individual to another and I adapt my sessions and the therapy to suit a person’s needs.

My primary models are Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, in which I am an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). My work is also informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

I hold a clinic in Southampton, offering both face to face and virtual appointments on Monday daytime and Tuesday evening. I work with clients from 18 years upwards and my sessions are charged at £110 per 60 minutes.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in the NHS since 2011 and in private practice since 2017 and have experience of working with people across the lifespan, although the majority of my time has been spent working with adults. I work with clients presenting with PTSD (including complex PTSD), complicated grief, depression, anxiety (including specific anxiety disorders such as health anxiety and OCD), medically unexplained symptoms, and emotion dysregulation.

Relevant qualifications and further training:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, University of Southampton, 2014 – 2017
  • University of St Andrews, MA (Hons) Psychology, 2006 – 2011
  • EMDR Focus: attachment focused EMDR, Mark Brayne, 3 days, 2021

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
