About me

Counselling, Psychotherapy and Coaching, to help you make sense of things.

Do you feel overwhelmed? That something’s not right? Lost? Stuck? Anxious? Depressed? Confused? Angry? Sad?

Do you have more questions than answers? More problems than solutions? Lots to say, but nobody to listen?

These are just some of the issues that counselling, psychotherapy or coaching can help you with.  Throughout our lives we experience a series of changes and challenges, and discussing these with a trained professional can help us to manage them in a way which provides perspective and builds our personal resilience. Often our responses to situations are influenced by our past experiences and, whether these influences are conscious or unconscious, the opportunity to talk them through can help us to learn about ourselves, make sense of what’s happening, and change the way we feel.

How can I help you?

There are many different therapeutic approaches and theories, and I work in an integrative way which means that I draw on my knowledge and experience of these to inform my work with you as an individual. I don’t try to fit you into any one approach, because you are an individual with unique life experiences, circumstances and needs. What is common to all my work, however, is a safe, confidential, supportive, non-judgemental approach which puts you first and aims to help you to make sense of the feelings, emotions and issues that you are facing.

I offer one-to-one counselling, psychotherapy and coaching at locations in Hampton, Twickenham and Central London. In addition, I also offer walking therapy in local green spaces, which can bring a different dimension to our work together, and on-line counselling.

If you feel that this is something which would benefit you, please call, email or text me so that we can set up an initial appointment to see if I’m the right therapist for you and how we might work together.  If you’re happy to continue we can then agree a day and a time to meet, normally on a weekly basis.  The number of sessions we hold will be determined by you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also have training and experience in coaching and mediation, and I keep my knowledge and skills up-to-date and relevant through a programme of continuing professional development.

As well as working privately I volunteer as a counsellor for two charities, The Mulberry Centre and Counselling Initiatives, and have experience of working with a wide range of issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
