About me

During these uncertain times (Coronavirus, COVID-19), all of my talking therapy sessions will be held on-line, over the telephone or over video-link: Skype, WhatsApp or Zoom. This means that we can connect from wherever you are.

Are you successful at work and have a great career but somehow you are still not satisfied and just don’t feel content?

Do you feel like no matter how much you achieve it’s still not enough, like the goal posts just keep moving? Do you sometimes feel that you are worthless or not good enough, or that you are somehow going to be found out? Do you find that you easily put others needs above your own?

Would you like to have more confidence and self belief in who you are and what you do?

Just imagine for a moment what your life would look like if you did feel more confident within yourself.  Imagine what life would look like if you changed any negative beliefs for new empowering positive beliefs. A belief where you valued yourself for all that you are, a belief knowing that you are good enough exactly as you are.

I can help you feel and experience all of this, allowing you to live the life that you want to live, easily and effortlessly. I work within many different areas but specialise in working with clients who experience anxiety, depression and low self-worth.

I offer a safe, confidential and supportive environment where you can explore and make sense of any challenges you are facing. I am highly trained using modern fast and effective psychotherapeutic techniques that will help you uncover what it is that is holding you back so that you can take control of your life with greater focus, energy and confidence.

Working with me

I view every client as an individual with your own unique experiences, and so my therapeutic approach is tailored to suit your individual needs rather than being prescriptive.

During our time together we get to the root cause of any issue. We work in a way that allows us to see how connections are made from experiences in your past, how it affects your life now and with this knowledge we are then able to work together on changing self limiting beliefs by replacing them with empowering positive beliefs.

Working in this unique way will give you control over your life, understand yourself and your emotions better and allow you to maintain a healthier way of thinking that will leave you feeling empowered to navigate any challenges that you meet.

I absolutely love what I do and have spent a number of years understanding and finding the best way of offering clients the best form of therapy to help you achieve your goals in a much quicker time frame.

Here's what some of my clients have said about their experiences of therapy

"Brid helped me through a really difficult time in my life. I feel that without her I wouldn’t feel as strong and positive about my future as I do now. In our sessions she was encouraging and patient. We talked through my problems and how best to address them. I found her techniques really helped me in delving deeper into myself and yet also they helped in how to overcome the issues at hand. She will always be my first 'go-to’ therapist" S.R – Brighton

                                  *************************************************

"I recently had a session with Brid as I had an underlying feeling of not being good enough.  Brid made me feel entirely at ease, and I felt safe during the session.

I saw an immediate impact following the session.  My confidence received a boost.  I started a new job and I felt sure and certain of myself during my first week. I asserted myself into the role and didn't have any of the hesitancy that I would have previously.

I also started to see links between the challenges in my life and to understand why I struggle with certain things. It's helped me to make sense of some of the confusion I had and I see things more clearly.  I don't feel paralysed by indecision anymore.

I'd like to do another session in a few months and see if I get another "power boost." I would definitely recommend working with Brid.  You will see real benefits" L.B - London, E10

                                  *************************************************

"I went to see Brid to work on my anxiety. I was attracted to Brids work because of the possibility of addressing problems directly and getting quicker results.

The session with Bríd was such an amazing experience. Throughout I felt totally in control but my mind was able to focus on possible causes of my anxiety. I've never had this sort of clarity before. The whole time I felt safe and totally relaxed. The days following were so much calmer and less fraught for me and listening to the recording helps me to refocus and use the tools I have gained since having our session. I'm confident that this will keep me on my journey towards an anxiety free life. It's totally within my power now.

Brid explained everything so well and I am absolutely delighted with the results so far.
My awareness has been awakened and I am confident that I have left many old habits feelings in the past, where they belong." S.S - London, E17

                                  *************************************************

“I had therapy with Brid and I found it such a release to be able to say everything that was on my mind in a totally supportive atmosphere. Brid helped me understand better the possible causes of the negative thought processes that had begun to overwhelm me, to deal with difficult situations in a more constructive way, and to be more accepting of myself. Change didn't happen overnight, nor was it dramatic. Rather, one day I had a moment of realisation that I was feeling better and stronger emotionally and that this process of change had actually been happening bit by bit, over the course of my sessions. Thanks to Brid, I'm feeling better able to deal with what life throws at me” J.W – London E17

                                  *************************************************

"The hypnotherapy made a very deep impact on me. It was not intrusive or invasive in any way. It didn’t feel like anything was being done to me, but rather that Brid was facilitator, giving me the time and space to focus inwards on my own mind in a new way.

It unlocked access to memories I didn’t think I had, but unlike trying to remember the past, it placed me right there. It wasn’t simply remembering how I felt; it was a first-hand tangible feeling, very crisp and clear, unlike the patchy and foggy fragments of my conscious memories. It was a very powerful experience, which left a strong and lasting impression on me; helping me understand my sense of being in the world and where that comes from. " S.A - London, E10

                                  *************************************************

“Brid is friendly but professional, I felt at ease from very early on. She guided and supported me through-out my time with her and taught me useful/effective techniques to deal with my anxiety. My sessions with Brid have been brilliant! They have helped me accept myself, understand my thoughts and feelings from a different perspective and to accept them and move on. Throughout my sessions with Brid I have grown in confidence hugely. Thanks for all of your support Brid!” D.R - London E10

                                  *************************************************

"Recently Brid guided me through my first ever hypnotherapy exercise – Upgrading the Child. We had agreed in a previous session that hypnotherapy would be a productive way for me to move through a particular issue. She gave me detailed information about what the exercise would entail, how long it would take, and helped me to feel comfortable about the process. On the day of the session I felt anxious about proceeding, however, Brid again explained the process step by step, and above all, that I couldn’t possibly get it wrong and that there were no ‘right’ answers.

I am so pleased that I went ahead with it. Brid used a simple, yet effective method to put me into a deeply relaxed, meditative state. She guided me through the exercise gently and skilfully as I engaged with my child self and with other significant players in my journey. Brid held the space well so that I felt safe and able to fully sink into and experience my feelings. There was a portion of the exercise which was used to reinforce a positive relationship with myself which felt incredibly powerful, and when the exercise was brought to closure, I was so moved, and felt so free, that I was unable to speak, and shed many, much needed tears. I left the session feeling light and overwhelmingly good.

I feel so grateful to have been guided through this experience. During the week following the session I realised that I was feeling greater connection with my inner child, much more at peace with myself. I felt that the fractured feeling I had been living with was not as prominent, as if a great and deep alignment had taken place. I cannot recommend Brid’s skill as a therapist highly enough. I would happily recommend Bríd to anyone who may benefit from connecting with, and integrating their child self. Having had this experience, I now want hypnotherapy all the time! For everything!!" A.B - London E17

                                  *************************************************

“ From the moment I met Brid I felt comfortable with her, she is very warm and immediately makes you feel quite relaxed. I have had counselling previously, which I found helpful, but I felt that I progressed more with Brid, she enabled me to empower myself in many different ways and deal with some difficult issues.  Brid was always professional, but incredibly supportive, caring and understanding. We still keep in touch and if I need any counselling in the future I will not hesitate to see Brid again”.M.D - Hackney.

About Me and The way I work

I work fast and make sure that we get right to the core of your issue and begin the healing process straight away.

We discuss particular moments in your life where limiting beliefs and negative patterns of behaviour were created. I help you to transform those belief patterns to create new, healthier patterns of thinking that help you feel empowered and in control of your thoughts and emotions. I do this by helping you to re-frame the beliefs you created. Changing how you think and feel, changes your behaviour which ultimately changes your life.

I am a highly trained and experienced BACP registered Integrative Psychotherapist. This means that I use a combination of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), working with your mind to create desired lasting changes in the form of new perceptions, beliefs, emotions or behaviours. The way that I work is fast, highly effective with long lasting permanent changes!

Location

I offer Therapy online.

Online therapy is scientifically proven to be as effective as face-to-face therapy. There's no reason why we should be stuck with the old ideas of face-to-face therapy when we could be enjoying working conveniently, securely and efficiently online, in particular during the current pandemic of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The other bonus to this approach is that online therapy can fit around your lifestyle, so if you're travelling for work, struggle to leave the home due to anxious thoughts, work for yourself and need to minimise downtime, or perhaps have difficulties finding childcare, this can fit into your routine seamlessly.

Skype or Zoom is a very convenient way to engage in therapy when you can’t attend face to face sessions.  Perhaps you are in one of the following categories:

You travel a lot with work.
Maybe you have a disability, which makes it difficult for you to leave your home.
Perhaps you are living overseas and want to talk to a therapist from your own country/culture.
You have childcare or other caring responsibilities, which make it hard to find the time to travel to sessions.
Or, there might be no suitable therapists living near you, if you live in a remote area, for example
Whatever the reason, counselling via Skype could be the solution for you.

Once COVID-19 allows us to resume normal services, I will then be available to offer Therapy face-to-face from my Walthamstow and Leyton practice in East London. Both are in easy reach of South Woodford, Snaresbrook, Woodford, Wanstead, Highams Park, Aldersbrook, Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell, Chingford, Ilford and other surrounding areas.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Whilst I specialise in working with women who present with Imposter Syndrome, I am also experienced in working with the following:

Bereavement & Loss

Whether a bereavement is sudden or expected, it is highly distressing and traumatic.  People feel under great stress and strain when someone they love dies, and no matter what the circumstances, grief can include a wide range of emotions from sadness to anger.  Loss can also be the loss of a relationship after a marriage breaks down for example, or the loss of an animal, a home, a job etc.  It is not only bereavement that can leave people feeling empty and alone.  Counselling can really help people as they go through the stages of grief and ensure that they have the support that they need as they work through all the different emotions involved.

Confidence & Self Esteem

People often come for counselling because they have very low self worth.  This means that they lack confidence and that their self-esteem is very fragile. This can often be the result of their what they have experienced, either growing up, or in a relationship. It may be the result of bullying or abuse for example.  Counselling can really help people to start to believe in themselves again and to recognise what they have to offer, and the positive aspects of themselves.  It can assist people in developing and moving forward.

Relationship with the Self, and Self Concept

The relationship with yourself is the most important relationship that you will ever have. Having a healthy relationship with yourself means that you have a stable self-concept. ... When you feel good about yourself, it complements every other relationship that you have. Self-love is the best kind of love.

Stress

Stress plays a massive role in a lot of people’s lives.  Sometimes work, relationships, money and/or health concerns can cause people to feel under a lot of pressure. Signs of being stressed are feeling over whelmed, run down, irritability, inability to sleep and sometimes eating can be effected (either over or under eating).  Stress can often lead to physical health problems and emotional outbursts.  Stress is really hard to live with, and counselling can offer an outlet for this, and a place where you can discuss and work through the factors that are causing you to feel so stressed out.
