About me

Hey there.  Everyone is ok in my eyes and all are welcome.  Anxiety, stress, depression, anger - these feelings can creep up on us or appear quite suddenly.  Grief can hit us straight away or months/years later.  Sometimes life just gets too hard and we can't cope, get short tempered, can't sleep, cry....

You may know why you feel the way you do - or not - but either way, talking with someone impartial can really help.   We each have our unique blend of stuff we are trying to deal with.  I believe strongly that mental health is no different to physical health in that systems can become unbalanced and give us problems.  Working with a Counsellor can help to rebalance your mind.

You may be unsure but I encourage you to make an appointment, meet me and then see how you feel.  It could be your first step toward feeling better and learning how to manage whatever you are going through.  I am happy to support you as long as you need me but it can be encouraging to know that significant improvement can happen in as few as 6 sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am friendly and broad-minded.  My style is Integrative which means we can discuss your individual needs and tailor support accordingly.  I have lots of skills we can choose from including CBT and Mindfulness.  I am an Acupuncturist too and this can help with mood, pain and sleep.  I am also a chartered Physiotherapist which gives me a particular understanding of pain and its consequences.  I have a special interest in Women's Health pain and problems.

In case you want to see my actual qualifications and memberships, here they are :0) (B.Physio, MSc (Psych), PG Dip (Counselling), PGCert (Women's Health), HCPC, BACP, CSP, AACP, POGP)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
