About me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the BACP and COSCA in Edinburgh with many years of experience working as a person-centred and psychodynamic counsellor. My work with clients ranges from issues regarding bereavement, loss/grief, anxiety, trauma/complex trauma, PTSD, depression, relationship issues, stress, sexual abuse, self-harm, anger management, parenting problems, work-related issues and self-esteem. I also use breath work, mindfulness and somatic approaches where necessary while working with clients. Although I do not diagnose, I can work with your diagnosis to help you understand and make meaning of your experiences.

My therapy style is warm, safe and non-judgmental. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, being mindful of cultural differences. My approach is integrative, combining person centred, psychodynamic, interpersonal and psychoanalytic approaches to therapy. I believe that everyone is different, so I will tailor our work together to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first step towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Training, qualifications & experience

I am currently on my Doctorate to obtain a Doctoral degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Edinburgh. My research interests span across many topics, one being intergenerational trauma and how trauma gets transferred from one generation to the next. My current thesis is on understanding the concept of merman possession linked to mental disorders through the lens of psychotherapy.

  • I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Edinburgh.
  • My expertise is working with Child Sexual Abuse and survivors of physical, psychological and sexual trauma.
  • I am versed in the use of sand tray and other resources to help you make more sense of your internal world and unconscious processes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
