About me

Hello I'm Belinda and I have over 14 years’ experience with the NHS and in private practice counselling adults with a wide variety of issues. Throughout my years of experience I have seen how counselling can improve your life. Life doesn’t always go to plan as I am aware personally, and events whether recent or in the past can have a huge impact and leave you feeling confused, anxious, depressed and struggling to see a way forward.

Counselling is something that could help and being in a safe space where you can explore your issues and feelings without any fear of being judged. My approach is warm and empathic and I always work to build trust in the counselling relationship to enable you to feel able to be open and honest about yourself. Your experiences and feelings are unique to you and I will tailor the counselling to support your needs using an integrative approach. This means I draw on different theoretical approaches and use what feels most suited to you.  I offer techniques that I feel might be helpful  but at the same time it is very much about finding the right way forward for you and I welcome feedback about what is or isn’t working for you. I will encourage and support you to to explore any challenging and painful feelings you are experiencing at your pace. The aim of counselling is for you to get things off your chest, gain a different perspective and understanding of why you feel the way you do which will help you to find a way forward with your life that works for you .

I have a particular interest in emotional/psychological abuse and conducted research on childhood emotional abuse for my MA in Counselling Studies.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and as such adhere to their Ethical Framework. I undertake regular supervision and am committed to my Continuing Professional Development.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
