About me

We all go through difficult times, and we all deserve to have our thoughts and feelings heard. That’s why I offer a warm, comfortable atmosphere in which you can share what’s bothering you, safe in the knowledge that whatever you tell me will be met with compassion and zero judgment. Your experiences, your thoughts and your feelings all have value – I am here to support you to express them and reflect on what they might be telling you. So whatever is making you feel stuck, we can talk about it and perhaps find new ways forward together.

I primarily combine person centred and psychodynamic modalities. This means that I focus on helping clients handle difficult emotions and become more self-aware in the ‘here and now’, while also thinking about how their past experiences have shaped them into the person they are today.

I currently practice online, and can offer sessions via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Apple FaceTime. This means I am happy take on clients based in any location. I can also offer telephone counselling, if that might work best for you.

2024 UPDATE: In 2024 I will begin offering face-to-face session outdoors, in natural environments locally. I believe that being in contact with our natural world is therapeutic in itself, and spending some time out and about in peaceful surroundings can really help get your thoughts moving in new directions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and, on top of my core qualifications, I have specific training in working with substance use and addictions, domestic abuse, and anxiety. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I work in a trauma-informed way and have wide ranging experience of working with anxiety, depression, stress, abuse, trauma, addictions, work-related issues, relationship difficulties, self-harm, neurodiversity, anger management, eating disorders, loss and bereavement, and many other issues besides.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

£50.00 per session

Additional information

While my standard fee is £50 per session, concessions may be possible depending on circumstances. I appreciate money can be tight - especially at the moment - so I am always happy to have the conversation to see if there is a way we can work together, whatever your situation.

If you are interested in beginning sessions with me, we will first of all book in a 20 minute introductory chat. This will be free of charge and comes with no obligation - it's just an opportunity for us to get to know one another a little and think about how I might be able to help you. If it feels like a good fit, we'll schedule in regular sessions from there.

Further information

In 2024 I will begin offering face to face outdoor sessions, in natural environments locally. In the near future I also hope to begin offering face to face sessions in comfortable, custom-designed counselling rooms, in the Godalming area.
