About me
I believe that we all have times when we need some extra help. Working together, we can explore where you are and articulate where you want to get to.
My experience and training in both integrative counselling and coaching means we can look at what is impacting your life now, and look to your future.
The quality of our relationship is really important - for therapy to be effective we need to work in partnership. I aim to create the conditions for us to have an emotionally safe and deeply exploratory journey together. I actively guide you in this journey - I don't just sit back and listen. And if we feel it is not the right fit between us, I will support you to find another therapist.
What we cover is up to you. There might be a specific issue, crisis or trauma, a general sense of feeling ‘stuck’, or a need for new insights and change.
I have seen that, when we are able to explore and express ourselves, we can experience greater emotional clarity and stability. From this more stable place, we have the possibility of accepting or changing aspects of our life that we are struggling with. This exploration takes guts and honesty, and is worth the effort.
As an integrative therapist, I combine different theories and models to suit you. These are typically person-centred counselling, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My practice is also influenced by existential and psychodynamic theory. If appropriate, we can bring coaching into our work, to explore how you would like your future to look, and map out a route forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
My experience includes working with young adults at Ravensbourne University. I trained at The Minster Centre and the University of East London (PGDip Integrative Counselling and Coaching, distinction). I have bachelor's (hons) and master's degrees in other fields.
I have twenty years' experience working in a range of senior roles in the third sector and volunteering at the local Food Bank.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
