About me

Is life treating you unfairly? Are you feeling alone, not heard and feeling isolated?

Life can throw some challenges at us that we sometimes find overwhelming to deal with on our own. I recognise the courage it takes to seek help and the risk involved in sharing one's innermost thoughts. As an empathetic counsellor, my passion lies in helping you navigate the complexities of life. I place great importance in creating a safe environment where you feel safe to be vulnerable, will not be judged but feel heard, supported and validated.

I am a qualified counsellor with 12 years of professional work in therapy. I have a broad experience helping children and adults with stress, depression, anxiety, abuse, relationship/family problems and people affected by cancer. I trained with Change Grow Live as a counsellor where I specialised in substance use, addiction, abuse and trauma recovery. I also work with Project 6, an organisation that offers services and support to people experiencing alcohol and drugs use as well as in recovery. I use different modalities to suit the diversed needs of my clients. I'm trained in Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focused Therapy, Mediation and Mindfulness.

Counselling is a collaborative therapeutic relationship where you and I strive to help overcome obstacles, develop resilience, and achieve personal growth. I offer you support, warmth, empathy and compassion and be you unbiased companion throughout your life-changing journey. It's important to me that you feel heard and valued.

Training, qualifications & experience

Person-Centred Counselling

I gained my degree with the University of Brighton and I chose Person-Centred counselling approach for the main reason that it is non-directive. It is client-led which means you choose what you want to talk about or explore without my trying to act like the expert of you.

I am passionate about the principles of the Person-Centred approach because I believe that there is that innate drive within us to want to grow, to strive for our psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual potential so that we may live a balanced and autonomous life.

Play/Creative Counselling and Therapy

I also trained in Play Therapy under The Place2Be. It's a therapeutic approach I use to counsel children. I use play and creative arts therapy with the aid of toys, sand trays and art media because children don’t have the cognitive ability to process what’s going on for them. And also, children have a limited vocabulary to express their thoughts and feelings. Play Therapy is a means for children and adolescents to come to terms with their problems. It also provides a coping mechanism that allows self-expression which aids the development of self-control, self-esteem and self-responsibility.

My work with children started when I assisted SEN children in primary schools then I became a mentor to young offenders in East Sussex.

Trauma and Sexual Abuse Counselling

What happened to you is no fault of your own. Blame and shame are your perpetrator's cross to bear, not yours. Remember that healing from trauma and sexual abuse is a journey, and it's essential to be patient with yourself. I can provide you the appropriate guidance and support and help you process your emotions, develop coping strategies, and work towards healing. The process may take time, but with my support, recovery is possible.

Substance Misuse Counselling

I understand that substance misuse often involves complex and deeply rooted issues therefore you will not be judged for what you bring to counselling. Counseling support is an essential component of your recovery process and it involves you and I working hard together while I provide emotional, psychological, and practical assistance to help you overcome your addiction and make positive changes in your life.

I trained and worked for Care Grow Live where I made a positive difference to the lives of my clients.

Pet Bereavement Counselling

I am an animal lover and I’m passionate about promoting their welfare. Animals are intelligent, sentient beings who, just like humans, are able to feel emotions. They give us unconditional love and loyalty so losing a pet is a devastating and distressing experience.  The strong bond that we develop with our pets as we go through life together can leave us feeling desolate, sad, lonely and crushed when they have gone. Life once filled with joy, friendship and companionship may suddenly feel empty.  Sometimes it helps to share these feelings with someone who listens with compassion, empathy and without judgement.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is an experience that I value which I incorporate in my therapy. It’s a non-reactive method which allows you to be mindful of the present moment; noting feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations with an attitude of curiosity and non-judgement: allowing feelings and letting be.

The issues I specialize in are sexual abuse, self-harming, child related issues, the affects of cancer, carer support, pet bereavement and relationship issues. I am a trained mediator which skills I incorporate in my couples counselling work.

I worked as counsellor for Care for the Carers, Macmillan Cancer Support and Counselling Plus.

Existential Focusing

Focusing is a technique that I use integrated with other approaches. It encourages individuals to pay close attention to their inner experiences and bodily sensations in order to gain insight and resolve emotional issues or personal challenges. It involves a specific process of turning one's attention inwards which is your felt sense.

Felt Sense is a term used to describe the holistic, bodily-felt understanding or intuition of a situation, problem, or emotion. The felt sense is different from simply identifying and labeling emotions; it's a deeper, more nuanced experience.
