About me

Everyone can be supported by counselling but taking that first step can be a dufficult one. I offer a non-judgemental, empathic safe place for you to share whatever you need to.

I'm a counsellor who really believes in the power of saying things out loud to another person. It sounds simple but it can be an incredibly difficult thing to do. Counselling gives you the opportunity to share these thoughts with someone without the worry of feeling like a 'burden' on those who you are the closest to or worried about what they may think.

The therapeutic relationship that you have with you counsellor is the most important aspect of therapy. This means that we will work together to build trust by going at your pace and with you setting the agenda of what we discuss.

I am an Integrative Counsellor: this means my approach can include a range of theories that will support you in understanding the reasons behind your feelings and behaviours. I really believe that the relationships we have had, whether that is from a parent, caregiver or someone who is important to us can really have an impact on our feelings and behaviours in the present. It is through talking about these relationships that the impact of them can be really understood. This can lead to the change that you want. At the heart of our sessions will be you and what you need from the session.

Before our first session I will arrange a brief introductory call to talk to you about what you can expect when you come for your first session. It will also be a good chance for you to ask any questions that you may have.

During our first session I will be doing an assessment, which is just an opportunity to find out if you are in the right place to get the support you need. It is a good opportunity to get to know you better.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
