About me

Hello, my name is Amy. Like you, I have experienced situations and emotions that felt overwhelming and that made me feel stuck, unable to see a way forward. I became a qualified counsellor at the age of 38 because I want to support people who are struggling with their current challenges. I am a person centred counsellor at my core but I am keen to work with you as an individual and adapt to your needs. Being person centred means I let you lead the sessions and take it where you need to. I will be by your side offering a therapeutic space for you to explore your reasons for coming to counselling. It’s important to me that you feel heard, understood and accepted. I will be there for you through your difficult feelings and support you to feel safe to go there. You don’t have to face your challenges alone.

I will work to get to know you and what works for you.  Our experiences will be different. I want to meet you in your world and your frame of reference. I am warm and caring. I work hard to understand and will always listen. I can be silly and fun and I like to laugh. I am determined and passionate about the things that matter to me. I will be myself and I invite you to join me. You will be warmly welcomed.

Our sessions will be on weekday evenings either at the Latton Bush Centre in Harlow, online on MS Teams or over the phone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
