About me

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that holds art making processes at its centre. Participants do not require any form of previous art making experience.

An Art Psychotherapist holds a safe, playful and confidential place that facilitates the use of tactile and visual materials. They are a supportive witness and empathetic participant in the relationship that develops with these materials.

Art Psychotherapy is client-led. As an Art therapist, I will always actively listen to what occurs, thinking and talking alongside you, when you need me to. I will also support you with the space to ask your own questions and agency to come to your own answers, both verbally, visually and sensorially.

I am committed to adapting the Art Therapy space so each person that I work with has a sense of ownership of it. I strive to make an accessible space for people of any neurodivergence, age, gender identity, physical ability, sexual orientation, race and social background.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters Degree in Art Psychotherapy.

I have experience working in schools, with both primary and secondary aged children and in pediatric medical settings. I have supported young people and adults in the community and have worked with those living with challenges related to neurodivergence, physical disability, long term illness, mental health struggles, anxiety, depression, insecure attachments, trauma and bereavement.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
