About me

Hello, my name is Amber,

I support children, teenagers, young adults and families with various issues including Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Health Anxiety, Low Confidence and Self Esteem, Family Issues, Regulating Emotions (such as anger or shame), Challenging Behaviour, Communication, Trauma, Sexual Abuse Trauma. I have extensive experience working with young people with an Autism or ADHD diagnosis in school and in the community.

I am a fully qualified art psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I specialise in working with children, teenagers and young adults that are neurodivergent, such as those with an Autism or ADHD diagnosis.

I work with adult clients, sometimes parents themselves who are looking for a holistic approach, or art therapy students looking for personal therapy.

I am warm, friendly and thoughtful with high standards or care in line with my HCPC registration and BAAT membership.

I take time to really get to the heart and roots of what might be happening for your child, and the impact this might be having on them and your family. I take a holistic approach making decisions with you about your child’s care and progress.

I provide a safe space where the young person can freely express themselves without judgement. Sessions can involve using a combination of talking and art making, some young people can feel like this is a huge relief, knowing that they can choose to sit quietly with thoughts and feelings, or put their feelings into an artwork to show their feelings.

It’s important to me to empower the young person to discover their own resilience and inner strength which is the driving force to move forwards in life beyond the therapy sessions.

I am qualified to use a Dyadic approach for parent and child working together in sessions. This specific way of working places a focus on nurturing the shared relationship with your child through various art making and relationship based activities.

Creative materials and resources are used in sessions to support self-expression. You will not need any previous experience of making art, in fact, all you need is the willingness to explore. A variety of creative materials will be available including watercolour paints, oil pastels, sensory toys, sand tray, story cards, collage and found objects.

Sessions can be delivered in any of my two private practice rooms, either in Harlow or Stanstead Abbotts, or online.

I am an integrative therapist using a psychodynamic approach. I use attachment, child development research, and other theories/research to inform my work.

I offer Clinical Supervision to qualified art therapists, psychotherapists/ counsellors and students.

I offer personal therapy to students completing an art therapy masters at a discounted rate.

Please get in touch for an initial conversation.
