About me

WHY ARE MY FEES LOW? Because I believe in accessible, timely support. No jargon, no form filling, no assessments, no waiting lists. Just quality, affordable therapy when you need it. Experienced. Qualified Therapist.

 How are you Feeling?

Are you feeling sad, anxious, low? Maybe you are all alone with your feelings not knowing what to do or who to talk to. Have you suffered the death of a loved one and are thrown into the terrible effects of grief?

You may be suffering from low self-esteem or burnout. Work may have become burdensome or, you may be facing the loss of income and stability through ill health or divorce.

You may be feeling confused and adrift after a relationship breakdown or, you may be at a crossroads in your life and don't know which path to follow.

How therapy may help

Whatever you are feeling, it can help to talk to someone outside of family and friends, a  professional, so that you can be your true self and explore difficult emotions fully and therapeutically.

My experience as a therapist

I have 20 years of experience as a therapist, working with a diverse range of issues, including Anxiety, Life changes, Abuse, Work related issues, Death anxiety, Relationship issues. Self-esteem. Historic child sexual abuse.

I have worked in a range of counselling organisations including Savana and The Dove Service and Douglas Macmillan; charitable organisations and global organisations as a workplace associate counsellor working with a diverse range of problems people face daily. I have many years experience working with bereavement and loss and abuse. I have also worked in private practice for 12 years and as a support worker on a mental health helpline for 10 years. I was also a Samaritan for 7 years.

How I work

I offer a talking therapy, a  person centred model of therapy using aspects of other models in which I tailor the therapy to suit your requirements. You are always in control of the sessions and the path we follow together.

I am offering affordable counselling by telephone or email package*. I believe that counselling should be accessible to all and I am able to keep my pricing lower to reflect this.

My Specialities

I specialise in Bereavement, Loss, Anticipatory Grief, Pet Bereavement, Bereavement by Suicide.

Sessions

Whilst sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly I am also able to offer ad hoc sessions when required. This enables more flexibility and may suit when sessions are required when needed at short notice.

You choose the frequency and duration of your therapy, whether that is one session or  ongoing sessions; short term or long term.

Free Consultation

I offer a free 15 minute consultation for you to ask any questions and to decide whether you wish to proceed with the counselling.

What to expect

I'll send you my counselling agreement to read through and agree to before proceeding.

You will not be required to complete assessment forms or feedback forms.

Appointments

I offer day/evening/weekend appointments. I can be flexible to suit your requirements.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
