About me

I am a counsellor and registered general nurse specialising in occupational health, and my priorities have been about the physical and psychological care of my patients and clients. I use the biopsychosocial model to support clients' biological, psychological and social experiences and issues. I listen to why the client feels they need therapy, and we discuss the most appropriate way forward which may include, for example, CBT or solution-focussed therapy. I am welcoming and trustworthy and my approach to clients is irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, race or religious beliefs.

I assist clients with low mood, anxiety, depression, low self confidence & self esteem, personal issues, loneliness, sadness, & stress. Palliative care & bereavement. Work-related stress. Loss of identity. Self harm and suicidal thoughts. Infertility and miscarriage. Peri and post-natal depression, menopause, fatigue & PTSD. Couple counselling.

I believe every person is entitled to help and counselling and I work in a client focused way without judgement and with empathy and respect. I provide a safe space for the sessions, and the kettle is always on! If you feel this suits your needs, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I worked as a volunteer counsellor at Trafford Macmillan Centre for 10 years. Clients were either carers for people with life limiting conditions, predominantly cancer or people who had problems around loss and bereavement.

I have worked as a counsellor for a charity in Lancashire and I volunteered for Feed for All in Need in Manchester. Both of these voluntary roles gave me the opportunity to assist people who are vulnerable and, often, alone.

I work with clients from the age of 12.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
