About me

I understand walking through my own journey of life how it has and still can be an obstacle course, confusing and emotionally painful.  At times it can be difficult to see the wood from the trees and how you may feel isolated and alone and feel that no one can possibly understand what is happening to you.

You may be going through difficult experiences, such as a relationship breakdown, bereavement or redundancy. Or you may want help with feelings of sadness, depression, anxiety, anger or low self-worth that don't seem to be connected to any one particular event. Just remember you are not alone.

Through my life experiences and training I have learnt that we bring all of ourselves into interactions with others and that the whole individual (beliefs, up bringing and personal environment) influences our emotions and behaviour. Which impacts on how we understand and fit into the world.

My personal approach as a Counsellor/Life Coach is rooted in a Person centred perspective, based upon my belief in the human potential for growth and personal development. A growth and development that is achievable if desired when given the right conditions and support.  To support this I draw upon an integrative model of theories in the forms of Solution Focus, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Meditation, Attachment and Inner child work.

What I offer is three essential qualities, which I believe create a safe, supportive and challenging therapeutic environment, these are:-

  • A deep acceptance of you and your world
  • A desire to understand you and your world
  • A commitment to being genuine in the relationship.

To help you understand, 'Why you Feel as you Feel and Do as you Do?' My experience has shown me that awareness is the key to unlock change.

My form of counselling is not about giving advice. It works with a skilled process, which will enable you to connect with your emotional strength, reflect upon your experiences and will if you desire empower you to find the necessary skills and resources to put you back in control of your life. I work with various different channels and creative media to provide you with these skills for the future.

I work face to face, via e-mail and telephone both short or long term, whichever feels right for you.
Sessions are usually once a week and last 60 minutes.
I offer sessions at various times during the week and evenings subject to availability.

If you would prefer to speak to me directly please call me on Mobile:07519554016. You can leave a message which is totally confidential and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I specialise in working with children emotionally and behaviourally from the age of 4 through to adolescents to young adults. My approach focuses on not only working with the children and young people on a 1:1 basis, but also equipping parents to deal with the stress and anxiety particular difficulties may have caused.
