“Travelling a journey of confusion, pain and suffering, awakens the deepest desire to recognise oneself” Awaken Discovery

Hello, my name is Ally, and my private practice Awaken Discovery welcomes you. I am a fully trained Humanistic Integrative Counsellor who specialises in helping you recognise and connect with your personal needs.

It’s taken me years of self-discovery to recognise listening to “me” has been the best thing I can do. I also appreciate that I never stop learning. For me learning about myself is valuable.

I never thought counselling could help me, but it did, and it continues to support me. Twenty-two years ago, I trained as a Secondary school teacher. Carrying out a variety of roles and taking every life event in my stride, or so I thought, I recognised something wasn’t right. There was something about my past, present and future which felt overwhelming to me, I was lost in more ways than one. Counselling provided me with a safe space to explore and consider what I was experiencing. It was painful at times and left me with a lot to process. I am always amazed at how it has supported me.

I would like to do the same for you. Counselling for some can be a daunting experience, not to mention what is already happening in your life. I aim to support you in this process. I can offer you a safe and supportive space whether face-to-face, by telephone or online. I embrace your uniqueness and will respond without judgement. Above all, I can support you on your journey to find you. Sessions are run for individuals or couples (two people in the session who would like to work things out together).

I can offer short and long counselling work. I am flexible in the way we can work. One way of meeting for the session doesn’t have to be the only way. Please call/ email or connect through my webpage to ask any questions.

The areas covered here and on my webpage are not limited. please get in touch to discuss your needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
