I’m Ally, a qualified Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. I know how it feels to carry these burdens. Twenty-five years ago, I trained as a secondary school teacher, navigating life’s challenges while believing I could handle everything alone. I eventually realised something wasn’t right - past, present, and future felt overwhelming. My own journey through counselling/psychotherapy showed me the power of self-discovery and reflection - Now, I help others find that same sense of clarity, peace, and empowerment.
Together, we’ll create a safe, supportive space where you can explore what’s happening beneath the surface, release what no longer serves you, and begin to feel whole again.
Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, low mood, trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, or a general sense of being stuck, to name a few, we can work at your pace - face-to-face in Market Weighton, nearby towns such as York, Beverley, Pocklington, Hull, Harrogate, or online anywhere in the UK.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have been supporting students and staff in Education for over twenty years and continue to do so. Events in my life caused me to question what I was doing and led me on the path to counselling/psychotherapy.
I am a fully qualified counsellor registered with the BACP (membership number - 392865). I follow their ethical code of practice, along with being DBS checked on the update service. My experiences gives me the ability to connect with people of all ages.
In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a counsellor at Selby College and York St John Communities Centre.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
